The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS) in collaboration with the Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) has launched the video-recorded CPD seminars to enable members to schedule your professional learning more flexibly. Through the online learning platform of OUHK, members, graduates and students are able to easily access selected video-recorded seminars with any smart devices anytime, anywhere.
In view of the prolonged challenges of COVID-19, the Council has decided that the 10% discount on the regular enrolment fees for video-recorded CPD seminars from 1 April 2020 to 30 September 2020 being offered to members, graduates and students will be extended to 30 December 2020 at 12:00 noon (being the cut-off for the Year of 2020). The “enrolment fees” listed in the table below are not yet discounted. The said discount will be applied automatically upon checkout.
Q2. What is the deadline for registration? A2. The video-recorded CPD seminars are offered throughout the year. You may enrol anytime on the selected seminars to learn online.
With effect from 4 Aug 2017, a new term of video-recorded CPD seminars will be started at 12:00 noon on every Friday while the cut-off time for application will be 12:00 noon on every Wednesday*. Learners can have 30 calendar days to view the selected seminar(s) in each term. Applicants who submit their applications after the cut-off time shall start the term on next Friday. * If Wednesday is a public holiday, learners should submit their applications by 12:00 noon on Tuesday. * HKICS ECPD package is not applicable to video-recorded CPD seminars.
Q4. Why Should I choose video-recorded CPD seminars? A4. Video-recorded CPD seminars enable you to view the recorded videos by smart devices and desktop computer within the specified period. Upon completion and passing the quizzes of each seminar, HKICS ECPD/CPD points will be awarded.
Q5. What is the specified viewing period of the video? A5. The video start date is determined by OUHK depending on when is your application date. Please refer to Q2 above for details.
Q6. Is there any requirements on the completion of an video-recorded CPD seminar? A6. To be awarded with the completion certificate of a video-recorded CPD seminars, you must: - complete viewing the recorded video (total duration of viewing will be tracked); and - pass the quizzes with majority correct answers at the end of the video.
Q7. When can I receive the completion certificate of an video-recorded CPD seminar? A7. After the view video end date, OUHK will send the completion certificate to you by mail if you have fulfilled the completion requirements.
Q8. How do I claim the ECPD/CPD points from HKICS? A8. If you have fulfilled the completion requirements and your view video end date is on or before the 15th of a month, the ECPD/CPD points will be updated on or before the 30th of that month. Otherwise, the ECPD/CPD points will be updated on or before the 15th of the month immediately following the month of your view video end date; you may check the record by logging in your account on HKICS website.
Q9. My CPD record in HKICS has not been updated, what can I do? A9. If your ECPD/CPD record with HKICS has not been updated as mentioned in Q8 above, please email us: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q10. Can I re-register for the video-recorded CPD seminar if I have already completed the same online seminar? A10. In practice, you may re-register to view the same seminar but NO ECPD/CPD point will be granted for the second completion of the same video-recorded CPD seminar.
