The Form IRBR200 notification of commencement of business by a corporation is a statutory notice that a newly incorporated company must file with the after the Registrar of Companies has issued its certificate of incorporation. Business Registration Number
Enter the 8-digit Business Registration (BR) number exactly as shown on the BR certificate issued by the Inland Revenue Department. If the corporation was registered by way of a simultaneous business registration application, the number is on the certificate issued at incorporation.
Name of Corporation
Enter the full legal name of the corporation as it appears on the Certificate of Incorporation issued by the Companies Registry. Use the same language (Chinese or English) as the certificate.
Business Name (Note 2)
Only complete this field if the business name is different from the corporation name. If the corporation trades under a name that is not its registered name, enter that trading name here. Chinese names (including punctuation and spaces) cannot exceed 30 characters; English names cannot exceed 120 characters. Leave blank if the business name is the same as the corporation name.
Business Commencement Date [Mandatory field] (Note 3)
This is a mandatory field. Enter the date the corporation actually began carrying on business. Use the format day/month/year. Note 3 warns that advance notice will not be accepted - the date must be on or before the date you sign and submit the form. The corporation must notify the Commissioner within one month of this date.
Business Description and Nature (Note 4)
Describe the actual business activities. You may use Chinese or English but not both in this field. Chinese descriptions (including punctuation and spaces) cannot exceed 30 characters; English descriptions cannot exceed 60 characters. Be specific - for example, “restaurant operation” or “property investment”.
Business Address (Note 5)
Only complete this section if the business address differs from the registered office address of the corporation. If the business is carried on at the same address as the registered office, leave this section blank. When completing, first select the Area Code: H for Hong Kong and Outlying Islands, K for Kowloon, N for New Territories. Then fill in the address in either Chinese or English (not both). Provide the flat/room, block, floor, building name, street number and name, and district.
Signature
The notice must be signed by a director, secretary, or manager of the corporation (Note 7). The signer must be an individual, not a corporate entity, unless the corporate director or secretarial firm itself signs - in that case, see the next field.

Print the full name of the person signing the form.

If the signer is an individual director, secretary, or manager, enter their Hong Kong identity card number or passport number (with place of issue). If the signer is a “corporate director” or a secretarial firm, enter that entity’s Business Registration number. If the entity cannot provide a BR number, attach a copy of its Certificate of Incorporation from its place of incorporation.
